There have been multiple discussions on the pros and cons of using Manned guards and/or a high tech mobile camera tower. We have created simple comparison research from our corporate experience, from our client's experience as well as research findings.

Manned guards are defined as ‘a people employed by a public or private party to protect the employing party’s assets’.

A mobile CCTV tower is described as an ‘all-in-one surveillance solution specifically designed to meet the challenges of security risks’ which is monitored 24/7.

Manned guards

Advantages of Manned guards:

• Active within a few hours.

• Active security against destruction, theft, and undesirable guests.

• A suitable solution when temporary occupation or security with cameras is not suitable.

Disadvantages of Manned guards:

• A guard cannot see what is taking place on the other side of the terrain.

• Is the guard alert throughout his shift?

• The Security guard will be emotionally regulated ( family emergencies, sick days, easily injured)

• The costs are relatively high. Assume an average of £40 per hour, can become extremely expensive.

One of the main problem areas found with hiring Manned guards would be the aspect of ‘trust and sound judgement’. In the last few months, there have been a series of occurrences on the news featuring the SIA enforcing a ban on regulated security guards for causing grievous bodily harm to another vulnerable individual. As a result, their SIA licence was terminated and the company in question had a wave of negative PR.

Mobile CCTV Tower

The advantage of a Mobile CCTV Tower:

- 24/7 Monitored Security

- Intruder Alert Process

- Perimeter defined protection areas

- Smart detection technology to distinguish between a trespasser and an animal crossing.

- Remotely configured

- Audio functionality available ( speak with the intruder through the camera tower)

- Dark fighter technology to see in the dark

The disadvantage of a Mobile CCTV Tower:

  • May not be the best solution for securing homes but can work for empty properties or sites.
  • For an oddly shaped area, you may require more than 1 mobile tower.
  • Robust and can only be moved via a crane
  • Battery Pack of 72 hours need an electric supply.

Our conclusion:

In this era we are looking for the fastest and cheapest solution to solve our worries without having to administrate the consequences, which would be ideal for the Mobile CCTV tower as it provides 24/7 monitored security with  High tech functionalities to minimise any risks possible.
